I grew up not eating oatmeal until it was available in packets because my grandma made my mom eat it made with way too much water to stretch the canister of oats further, so my mom hated it! She thought she was doing us a favor by sparing us from gluey oats! I (v. annoyingly picky) ended up loving oatmeal and then imagine my joy when they had kettles of different hot cereals + toppings at breakfast in my college dorm cafeteria!😳
Oatmeal plus a toppings bar seems like a great idea for a dorm! I grew up mostly eating cold box cereal. Oatmeal has been an adult discovery. It works well with my body. I like adding some oat milk because the oats with just water is definitely not as tasty. But fortunately for me, I don’t have to stretch the bag of oats. If need be I’d do it too! Oats can really fuel a person for a long time.
Oh yeah.. I'm a maple syrup in oatmeal all the way kinda guy. My wife introduced peanut butter to the mix - a tablespoon per serving of the crunchy, not-too-processed, no added sugar, "what are you, a rambunctious five year old with all that sweetness?" kind of peanut butter. I'm a fan. It goes in at the beginning too unless you like an unincorporated blob.

Thanks! Now I'm craving a warm cozy breakfast.
Oh yes. Adding peanut butter is a great idea. Thumbs up.
Can’t wait to make one of my own!! It also seems really tasty!
Oooh! Seems really fun! I’ll be sure to add some when I make the oatmeal! Are there any other toppings you’d recommend?
I hope you make some! I also add bananas sometimes. But I add those as a topping usually. 😊
