Dude was the name of my cat that passed away last August at 14yrs old. Besides a great name and legendary cat, he also had several Lou B autograph records :). I miss him.
I have a tabby-tortie called Tawny, it's the name she came with from the shelter, but we stuck with it because she is indeed speckled like a tawny owl.
If you get them soon....Junie...or Juno? My vote would go to Bumble too though ✅
"Little Mushroom" is a great name. I've had a lot of cats come through my life and I've always gone with a simple rule: Cats get object names, dogs get human names. I especially like food names for the felines. Ask my cat, Salami.
A couple tips for cat ownership if you plan to get two - get a boy and a girl. Two female cats may struggle to cohabitate and fight a lot - they're very territorial. That's been my experience and a vet told me as much. Also, cats are prone to kidney issues over time and they lack the same thirst drive as dogs, so it's important they have lots of water.
Hope you guys find some cute furry babies for your family!
When I was a kid, we had very uninspired names for our cats: Gray Cat and Black Cat. My favorite was Gromit (female cat named after a male dog). Now we have Ace of Spades (Ace for short), Slater (named after a local street and since we live by the beach, Kelly Slater). Our foster fail is an orange female named.....Orange Chicken. Chicken for short or The Chicken (as in "did you feed the chicken yet?" The vet staff loves her name - "At least she's not named Bella.") We have a dog named Devo and my 17yo daughter wants the next pet to be named Milo, Buzz, Barlow, Jello, Fletcher (Shears, from The Garden).
She's a HUGE fan of The Garden. We've seen them a bunch of times (in three states even!) and each of their side projects. Saw Fletcher play drums with the Adicts at Coachella and this weekend we'll see him twice - he's playing with the Adicts and The Garden at No Values in CA. She's a big punk rock fan - old and new bands.
Hey! You mentioned some con list items in the podcast. My wife is brilliant and researched ways to deal with some of the cat owner aggravations (other than drinking about it 🤣).
1. Litter Box - we use pine pellets and a sifting litter box! The main box is like a colander and sits about 2 inches above a regular closed litter box. When wet, the pellets dissolve into sawdust. A daily scoop, stir, and shake of the box makes the sawdust pass through. Less smell, less dust, biodegradable! What Could Possibly Go Wrong?? It still takes vigilance, but it is way less objectionable than the clay stuff.
2. Waking Up For Food - she found us an automated feeder! We break up our guy's diet over the day (he scarfs... so we can't free feed). We feed him once in the morning AFTER we eat, and once in the evening AFTER we eat. Over time he has learned the phrase "not yet", and "out" (he used to circle our feet in the kitchen) and now sits patiently just outside the room (so, I guess tip #3 - get a smart cat 🤣). But here's the kicker - he gets a small amount of dry food overnight from the automated feeder. This fills his tummy so he's not ravenously hungry at 6am.
YMMV - cats are cats; they differ, they are clever, and there will surely be some annoying habit somewhere. But we've had luck. I figured I'd share.
Good luck! I know you'll all love the kitties.
Oh, yeah... also... Bumble FTW! Cute name... particularly if you find a dopier kitty.

I was with Lou on Luna and Misty. We had a Misty when I was really young. She was a grey Siamese.
Although, I thought little mushroom was so specific it was a contender… until Lou ruined it.
I loved "little mushroom" and now Lou has indeed ruined it! Damn!! Lol
New song idea…
You Don’t Have to Bring a Dick Into it (this conversation)

Umlat included over a vowel would make any cat name more rock n' roll.
