Wake Up Lou!
Lou reacts to 2 Sebadoh reviews from, like, 30 years ago.
Recently I was in my attic gathering gear I might need for an upcoming Folk Implosion tour and spied the pile of U.K. press clippings a fan gifted me a few years back. From a Facebook message: “Hi Lou, I loved Sebadoh in the 1990’s and collected every bit of press I could find, I don’t want it anymore, do you?” #1. I feel like Sebadoh might be the only band to whom fans return memorabilia. #2. Sure, why not? It was dutifully sent, I received the large package and threw it into one of my Bins Of Ambivalent Memory in the furthest reach of my house.
The attic is cold, I made my rounds quick and snapped up 2 scraps. The headline “Wake Up Lou!” in particular beckons me. Downstairs I take the time to read both pieces. Yikes. “Wake Up Lou!” Is a 6/10 rating of Sebadoh’s Harmacy L.P.. The other, titled “Wayward To Go” , a live review from the Eric Gaffney era of the band.
The 1990’s were the best and worst of times for me. The best because Sebadoh got more popular, the worst because Sebadoh got more popular.
