It’s true. I’m in the cult of Outlander and I’m not sad about it. After I watched the first episode, I remember really enjoying it but wondering if I would get too hung up on the time travel part. My initial thoughts about time travel seemed to lean towards “this is too silly to be taken seriously”.
Honestly, I’ve surprised myself and not only accepted the time travel aspect, but grew to find it fascinating and critical to the story. I love all of it.
2025 has been a year of change for me. I learned about my ADHD diagnosis and became increasingly aware of my mortality in a way that could not be ignored. I think about death every day. My mom having ALS, spending regular time with her on monthly trips to Wisconsin, seeing her change and degrade in real time has been incredibly heavy. The ADHD medication adds clarity to my thoughts whereas I was struggling with overwhelmed brain fog before it. So I think about every little part of my life now in a way that feels heightened. It’s like, life is neon to me now, before it was muted.
Watching Outlander has been not only an escape from the sad things I’m juggling, it’s also got me more interested in the past. I’m loving seeing history unfold in the show. It’s not just the actions of one courageous person that changes the future (that of course is one part) but it’s also the tiny mundane everyday choices we make that mold and shape what’s to come.
I love to tell people “I’m in my Outlander Era”
While recording the RAW impressions Outlander episode a funny thing happened. One, I realized Lou was feeling insecure about my newfound love of the show. Two, he thought this love was directed specifically towards the character of Jamie Fraser (THE main hot dude). Three, I watched in real time as it dawned on him that these uncomfortable feelings he was having were actually not about me, but an insecurity he was still carrying based on past relationships.
Anyone else out there a fan of the show? What do you like to watch? Let me know as I’ll be finishing the series soon and I’ll need another one! Pod Links below!

Nice, sounds like a plan! I think she's really enjoyed it so far. We're both looking forward to the final season of Stranger Things too...still no date for when it'll hit Netflix but it'll be sometime this year at least. Good luck with the Outlander-soundtracked sweater!
My GF is a big fan of the show...she's mentioned similar sentiments about having to get Starz just to catch up with certain seasons. She's more recently been into the audiobook version of the series...while patiently waiting for the conclusion of the TV series.
