Buh..Buh..Buh..Bobby Bare Junior and Lou Barlow ‘song swap’ mini-tour!!

I met Bobby when Guided By Voices and Dinosaur Jr shared a bill in Boston back in…I don’t know when. A couple years ago. I had met Bob Pollard several times in the early aughts and had a good time with him. Then, I would hear stories of him dissing me from the stage at various shows declaring himself a better songwriter (fair enough but, ouch). It was a little confusing. We were born in the same hospital after all (Good Samaritan, Dayton Ohio)! I wasn’t sure what to expect when our bands actually played together. Turns out Mr. Pollard was just kidding. He said, more or less, that band rivalries were necessary and he was actually a fan. That was a relief. Also, his band were incredibly friendly, and I hit it off with GBV rhythm guitarist Bobby Bare Jr..
