Sebadoh’s history is convoluted and no matter how many times Lou tries to explain it, it gets no clearer. This is demonstrated once again on today’s new pod. Lou plays two songs for Adelle, Healthy Sick and Soulmate, both of which appeared on Sebadoh’s maiden-voyage cassette: The Freed Man. After not answering her first question about the lyrics of Healthy Sick, he grabs a shovel and buries the rest of the episode in a flurry of name drops and unrelated information.

As promised, paid subscribers can stream both sides of the cassette, minus Eric Gaffney’s songs (because he’s long forbidden several of his songs on the cassette to be re-released) and minus some extremely questionable content. One thing that Lou does explain in the episode is that early Sebadoh were edgy. Still, there’s about 16 minutes of the raw, unmastered, all original cassette down below.
