Good morning. It’s Mini Music Monday!
This Monday morning I’m sitting at my parents dining table in Wisconsin looking out at the lake, still covered in ice and last Monday I was bracing chilly wind in Boston heading to the movie premiere for Any Day Now.
Writer and Director of the film, Eric Aronson, reached out to Lou in the summer of 2023 about possibly doing the score for a movie he was finishing up. The story is a fictional telling of the (very real) Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum heist-told thru the perspective of one of the museum night guards.
Lou took on the project with the help of his talented friends Ryan Jewell and Justin Pizzoferrato. In just a couple studio days, in between tours for Lou, they came up with the movie score.
Fast forward to March 2025. Lou and I get a date night in Boston to attend the movie’s premiere at the Somerville Theater, where he played three songs before they showed the movie (Spoiled, Garden and Skull).
We had the best time. The movie was great, we were totally enthralled. It was funny and touching and hearing Lou’s music throughout was just wonderful. We got to meet some of the actors from the movie that night, including the two leads, Taylor Gray and Paul Guilfoyle. We chatted with the guys sitting behind us, who also happened to be in the movie, turns out they are Sebadoh fans! That was very sweet.

You can hear us chat all about this on the today’s episode and hear the version of Skull that made it into the movie.
